Puzzle calculations

Brainfold runs its Nonogram Solver and Sokoban game in your browser. Entering clues, requesting a solution, or making a game move does not upload your puzzle to a solving server. The site has no account registration, payment system, or advertising in this version.

Saved puzzles and progress

The tools use your browser's local storage to remember puzzle state and game progress on this device. The Nonogram Solver saves the clues you have applied and the cells you have marked. Text edited in the clue boxes is not saved until you select Apply clues. This is not an online backup and does not synchronize between devices. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to view the saved state.

Use the Nonogram Solver's Delete saved puzzle control to remove its saved puzzle. Further changes may save again. To remove all saved data, including game progress, clear this site's stored data through your browser settings. Private browsing, blocked storage, or clearing site data may prevent restoration. Removing browser data cannot remove copies of a puzzle you have already shared with someone else.

Share links

A Nonogram share link includes your applied row and column clues and marked cells. A Sokoban challenge link identifies the level to play. This state is stored in the URL fragment, the part after #. Browsers do not include that fragment in the normal HTTP request for a page, but the recipient and scripts running on the page can read it. These are puzzle-state links, not private access links. Treat them as visible to anyone who receives them, and only share content you are comfortable making available to others.

Your browser history, clipboard, messaging service, or browser synchronization service may retain a shared link under its own settings. Brainfold does not offer private or expiring puzzle links.

Site requests and measurement

Loading the site sends ordinary web requests to its hosting and network providers. These providers may process technical information such as IP address, request time, browser information, and the page address for delivery, security, and diagnostics. Browser-local puzzle storage does not make these web requests anonymous.

Optional Google Analytics helps us understand page visits and whether tools and games are useful. It loads and sends events only after you accept analytics. Events include fixed page names and action details such as result type or move count. We do not send puzzle clues, board contents, share fragments, email addresses, or arbitrary URL parameters as analytics event properties.

Google Analytics may use cookies and process technical information such as IP address and browser information under Google's privacy policy. Accepting analytics permits that processing; it is not anonymous browser-local storage. You can reject analytics or reset your choice through the site's analytics controls. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals prevent analytics from being sent. Your consent choice is remembered locally.

Rejecting analytics does not prevent solving puzzles, playing games, or using local progress storage. No advertising scripts are loaded in this version.

Contact messages

If you email Brainfold, your email provider and the services used to route and receive the message process its contents and address. We use the information you send to investigate or reply to your request. Avoid sending sensitive personal information or puzzle content you are not permitted to share.

Questions and changes

Visit Contact to ask a privacy question or request help regarding a message you sent. For browser-local data, clearing this site's data on your device is the direct way to remove it. Material changes to these practices will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
